读这部剧，跨了两周，回头一看时间，居然才10个小时9分钟，哈哈。和读一本剧集用的时间差不多，跨度却长很多，说明这不是一本有故事情节吸引人的书，但的确是一本挺好的书。看剧的过程，就像在看一部纪录片，跟随编剧的行程不仅可以拜谒中国禅宗的寺院，了解相关的历史渊源、知识、典故，还可以从编剧回顾以往的行程而了解中国佛教（禅宗）发展现状与以前的对比；更为有趣的是编剧非常详细地记录了自己行程中许多的人和事，从天气、遇到的人、吃的菜、日常闲聊、门票价格、交通辗转……像是摄像机一直对着他……还有他内心想法的描述作为“旁白”。而且作为一个外国人，不少评述视角独特，耐人寻味…… 看完这本，开始喜欢上这个大胡子的作品，准备将他其他作品寻来慢慢读，而且他那么慷慨，几乎看剧与人分享就可以同读了。
因为名字看的，本来以为是很晦涩的大部头，但是实际看起来还蛮好玩的，读起来有点像诗，但确实不太懂，隐喻太多了
